We have been planning for days that tonight we would put up the Christmas tree and decorations. Reanna has been so excited. Of course, I didn't get home until almost 6 pm and by the time we ate, cleaned up and got the tree out it was after 7 before we started. I guess I should back up a little. Last year after Christmas we found this big 9 foot tree at Lowes that was on sale for a really good price and we decided to buy it. So we have had to rearrange the living room on top of that to make it fit where our ceiling is vaulted. Anyway.....it took Steve about 2 hours to get it up and "fluffed" and then when he went to turn the lights on a strand was out, there was a broken bulb and he had to find which one it was. As he was finishing the tree, Reanna had climbed up on my lap and literally in minutes had fallen asleep, so I guess we will continue the decorating into tomorrow evening. I have put some pics of what we did tonight and I will have to post the ends results at a later time :) Thank you Steve for doing such a good job on the Christmas tree! We Love you!
Reanna helping Daddy "fluff" the tree. Hunter really didn't care he just wanted to play with his frog on his bouncy seat.
"Are you done yet dad, I was to decorate the Christmas Tree" Daddy trying to find the "bad" bulb!
Hunter had his 6 month check up today. I cannot believe how fast time goes. His measurements were 15 lbs 3.5 oz (10th percentile) and 25 1/2" long (25th percentile). She said he was doing great! Along with his checkup today, he started baby food, tonight it was Carrots. He ate about half when he started really making faces and doing the whole gagging thing :-) I also gave him a sippy cup that was for a 6 month old. All he wanted to do was use it as a teether.
Sissy even got to help feed him his carrots. She thought that was pretty cool! " I would rather just chew on this"
Today was the toy run in McPherson. For those of you that may not know what that is, it is where tons of motorcycles gather at Wal-Mart, collect toys for kids that are less fortunate and they take the toys on their motorcycles through town to a collection point. We just happened to get to watch this. It was so awesome to see all the people involved in this and all the toys that were collected. As I sat their and watched this, I started to cry. It is so sad to think of those kids that don't have the things we take for granted, not only toys but coats, food and even a roof over their head. I am soooo blessed for everything I have. I thank God each day for the things I have. The pictures below don't show it very well but it was really cool and Reanna enjoyed watching it. I always feel like these kind of things are good for her to see so she learns the importance of being thankful for what we have. Thank you to all those people involved!!
So I was one of those crazy people that went shopping on Black Friday....I started my shopping adventure at Midnight. Chelsea, Jami and I took off to Newton to Carters. They had sent out a card saying they were opening at midnight and all early birds got an extra 10% off. So 11:15, we are off and headed to Newton, crazy huh???? Well when we got down there we discovered that only select stores opened at midnight and this store didn't open until 6:00 am. BUMMER. So back home we went. I guess it was a nice little road trip! Thanks ladies for your company I enjoyed it :0) By the time I got home and laid down to sleep it was 1:45 am.
At 4:00 am, my mom, brother and I were going to head down to Wichita (and had to now stop at Carters on the way), so away we went. I was running purely on adrenaline!!! When we got to Newton yet once again....I was having a feeling of dejavu.....we stopped and Wal-Mart and oh my goodness that was crazy, it tooks us 30 minutes to walk from one side of Wal-Mart and back. On the way, Zo was hit with a cart and we about witnessed a cat fight. From there we went to Carters and I did get some really good bargains. Once we were done with Carters, it was away to Wichita. We shopped all day long in Wichita and started home at 3:00 pm that afternoon, by that time I was just about wiped out, it was all I could do to put one foot in front of the other. We arrived home around 4:30. You are probably wondering since I was so crazy to get up that early and fight the crowds, if I at least got some good deals. We did get a few good deals and for the most part the Christmas shopping for my kids is finished. All in all it was a good day. Even thought it was crazy, I did enjoy spending the time with mom and Zo. Of course we didn't laugh too much and Zo and I didn't mess with mom at all........
After church today, Daddy and Papa put up Christmas Lights. Daddy was going to help papa with his lights and then vice versa but by the time we got home from late service, papa almost had all his put up. But he still helped Daddy with our lights. I think next weekend we are going to put up the Christmas Tree. Yea!!!
Reanna was bossing the whole time!!!! Just like Mommy and Nana!
Right before dinner we had more excitement, I just happened to look in Hunters mouth and to my surprise found a little white thing poking through the skin. His 1st tooth is coming through. It's his bottom left one. What a good baby he has been while he has been teething--obviously we didn't even know it :)
It was a great weekend, but went way too fast. At least it will be a short week!
Today I saw on Nick Jr. how to make these really cute Turkey-hand Cookies. You outline the kids hand on paper and use that as your cookie cutter and outline of the turkey. So I thought this would be something fun for Reanna and I to do. But as we started, I found out we were out of butter (someone put the empty butter bowl back in the fridge "daddy??"), then I realized I didn't have any wax paper.....so I stopped everything and went to good ol' nana and papa's and went "shopping". We were then finally ready to start. After 2 hours of laboring over cookies, we finally finished and had a good time. She did a really good job on her turkeys, if I say so myself. Her turkey's even had it's "waddle" :-) If nothing else it was good quality Mom/Daughter time!!!
Yesterday we had to take Reanna to a urologist in Wichita . She had been having numerous issues with wetting, she started this about 8 months ago and we thought she was just regressing with all the changes of moving, me being pregnant and then Hunter arriving, but it just kept getting worse and was beyond the norm of a 3/4 year old. So when we took her in, she had to go and have "jelly" put on her belly (sonogram). What they found out was she has bladder spasms. Not sure what the cause is but symptoms are incontinence, frequent and urgent urination, which she has all 3. (sorry some of this is TMI) but the good news is she just has to take some medicine for awhile to help teach the bladder to "chill" and relax. Hopefully this will fix the issues and we can go back to normal.
For Reanna, we told her if she was good at the Dr. she could go "shopping" at Toy R Us. She did awesome for the Dr. so needless to say she came home with Giraffalaff Limbo. (Pictures to come--You outta see Daddy, Nana and Papa doing limbo) And Mommy did some Christmas shopping while we were there.
We went to have pictures taken yesterday at Portrait Innovations. They were Reanna's 4 Year Pictures and Hunters 6 month pictures. The kids did really well despite us having to "retake" pictures. The poor girl that photographed us accidentally deleted our pictures before we could look and order them. We ended up going back an hour later and starting over. The good thing was the kids cooperated the whole time!!
My little girl turned 4 this week. I can't believe how fast time goes. Reanna wanted a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse birthday. To our "surprise" Minnie Mouse showed up. Here are just a few of the pics from as what she says "her best birthday party ever"
Hunter & Asher even got in on Minnie Mouse!
Some swingset fun! "Happy Birthday to Reanna, Happy Birthday to you"
You will have to forgive me this is my first blog and I am trying to figure out what I am doing!
